Arsenal make request to Premier League to postpone North London Derby vs Tottenham

Arsenal have made a formal request to the Premier League to postpone this weekend's North London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur after a number of absences.
The Premier League will make a decision on Saturday after hearing the request from Mikel Arteta's side, who saw their absentee list grow when Granit Xhaka picked up a suspension following his red card in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
with the likes of emile smith rowe, martin odegaard, thomas partey, nicolas pepe and pierre-emerick aubameyang all currently unavailable, the north londoners will no doubt be sweating over the severity of saka's problem.
They were also without Martin Odegaard for the Carabao Cup game at Liverpool on Thursday night, after the Norewgian returned a positive Covid test, while Xhaka's first-half red card is due to rule him out of Sunday's game if it goes ahead as planned.
Bukayo Saka was taken off in the closing stages of the game at Anfield, with Arteta casting doubt on whether the England international would be involved on Sunday.
"he felt something in the last minutes, he was really fatigued,' arteta said after saka failed to complete the game against liverpool, with nuno tavares taking his place for the final few minutes.
' I don't know.
He ’ s a young boy and he recovers really quickly.
"But he's played a lot of minutes in the last few months so let ’ s see who is available."
Arsenal sit fifth in the Premier League table ahead of the weekend's fixtures, two points ahead of Spurs, though Antonio Conte's side have two games in hand on their neighbours.
Mikel Arteta says there is a chance the North London derby could be called off as Arsenal are on threshold of not having enough players to fulfil the fixture.
They played with 10 men for 66 minutes, after Granit Xhaka ’ s red card, and result makes them favourites to reach the Carabao Cup final.
But Arteta was quick to point out that Arsenal's ever expanding injury and illness list means the prospect of them not being in position to travel to Tottenham is real; they now have 11 players missing for a variety of reasons and the squad could be as low as 12 available for Sunday.
This was the first game Liverpool had failed to score in at Anfield since last April, when they were held by Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final, but Arsenal were never taken into situations that left them vulnerable.
They are going somewhere.
It wasn ’ t easy at all, especially against a team like Liverpool.
Klopp said :'" I have no idea what Arsenal will do when we play at Arsenal.
However, Spurs will be without Son, who is likely to be out of action for the rest of the month after picking up a muscle injury in his side's 2-0 defeat to Chelsea in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.
it's a massive game was a big game and i only say that because it keeps the squad happy.
As I said, if Spurs win and with their games in hand, you'd think they'd be hard to catch.
however, if arsenal go there and get a statement win it would be a major result for the gunners.
They were bottom of the league going into the international break.
They want to be playing football now.
But now we are back to this game being huge because while both clubs are not title contenders, they are at a similar level and striving to go to the top level again.
That's where the two teams have gone in recent years.
The Switzerland midfielder will also be suspended for Arsenal's upcoming Premier League matches against Tottenham and Burnley.
'It was about fight, spirit and commitment and as well the quality that they showed to play a game that is not in our strength.
