Divorced parents across the country felt a guilty pang of recognition last week as Adele broke five years of silence to talk to Vogue about her new album, inspired by the end of her marriage.

She and her ex-husband, Simon Konecki, have a nine-year-old son, Angelo, and Adele says the lyrics in some of her new songs are really for her boy, because he doesn't understand why she had to break up with his dad.

"i just felt like i wanted to explain to him, through this record, when he's in his 20s or 30s, who i am and why i voluntarily chose to dismantle his entire life in the pursuit of my own happiness," she told the journalist giles hattersley, in a burst of brutal honesty.

'it made him really unhappy sometimes.

And that's a real wound for me that I don ’ t know if I ’ ll ever be able to heal, ’ she added.

' i wasn't miserable miserable," adele admitted, “ but i would have been miserable had i not put myself first.

It ’ s not meant to be the daily vibe.

Open book: 'My mental health is very good at the moment. I take it day-by-day and I address whatever comes my way,' she admitted (pictured in 2017)

Last year, I published a memoir called The Hungover Games, a book about my own unusual path to motherhood.

It's a question I asked myself so many times that I nearly didn ’ t publish the book at all.

As her followers flooded the comments' section with questions about her upcoming album, rumoured to be titled 30, she revealed the project will be inspired by her divorce from former husband Simon Konecki, 47, earlier this year.

in its lyrics : 'there is no gold in this river that i 've been washing my hands in forever.

Happy: However, the Grammy winning star confessed that it no longer feels 'stressful' going out in the public eye with her new man by her side (pictured in 2021)

' i know there is hope in these waters but i can't bring myself to swim when i am drowning in the silence, baby let me… ’ we know adele's album is set to be an emotional rollercoaster, with the singer having spoken about it being heavily inspired from her divorce from husband simon konecki, 47, as a way to help her son angelo, nine, understand the situation.

'my mental health is very good at the moment.

i take it day-by-day and i address whatever comes my way. '

'It definitely helps me feel better if I take my time.

'I'm a 33-year-old divorced mother of a son, who's actually in charge': Adele said her relationship with Rich works because he knows where he's at in life (pictured in 2021)

Writing my music… yeah it's been really therapeutic for sure.

' I think I lost the appreciation for that.

I got things out that I didn't want to say out loud and talk about,' the Hello hitmaker added.

'What's my next album going to be based on?

Talented: The '30' title would certainly fall in line with Adele's preferred way of naming her albums, with all three of her studio albums named after her age (pictured in 2020)

Adele could be seen with her hand extended out of the car window moving in time with the music.

like,' i don't get it. '

that's not what society does. '

There are rules that are made up in society of what happens and doesn't happen in marriage and after marriage, but I'm a very complex person. '

Split: Adele recently broke her silence on her divorce, recalling the heartbreaking moment their son Angelo asked, 'Don't you love my dad anymore?' (pictured in 2013)

I didn't want to end up like a lot of other people I knew.

But, yeah, nothing bad happened or anything like that. '

The last thing I need is someone who doesn't know where they 're at, or what they want.

One thing that definitely happened in my divorce was that it humanised my parents for me.

Yay! The Someone Like You singer unveiled her long-awaited new music on Tuesday, taking to Twitter to reveal her new song is called Easy On Me and is set for release on 15 October (pictured is a shot from the teaser clip)
