the family of a british musician was found dead after he was allegedly beaten and thrown into a river in georgia.

the body of tom kennedy was born in manchester and lived in county mayo all his life, with his irish grandparents.

The channel reported Mr Kennedy's mobile phone had been found by police at a local pawn shop where it was traded for cash following his death.

They were denied bail by Gori district court.

Prosecutors allege Kennedy was thrown unconscious into the river to conceal the robbery.

"We are absolutely devastated there are no words, life will never be the same again without our beautiful talented boy.

His family said he was a talented musician who played the guitar, violin and piano.

"One of the kindest souls to ever walk this earth, you trusted with your heart and played your music as a genius!

In a statement, the Foreign Office said : "We are in contact with the local authorities following the death of a British man in Georgia and are providing support to his family."

Five people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of Thomas Kennedy washed up in the Mtkvari river near Gori on Friday.

five appeared in court on tuesday, where four were accused of murder and the fifth was charged for failing to report the crime.

According to Georgia news station Mtavari TV had been studying at a local music college after arriving in the country from his home in Ireland on 30 August.

Ms Barrett wrote on the page : "On Friday the 9th of October our beautiful Tom was found in Mtk'uari River in Georgia.

He died brutally and tragically at the hands of five evil men.

"Our aim is to raise money in order to fund the expenses associated with Tom's passing.

These include but are not limited to repatriation, funeral cost, and for Tom's family to travel to Georgia to see the Criminal Trial of his death."

Guitarist Thomas Kennedy was out drinking when a verbal and physical fight broke out with a group of local men.

His body was found three days later in the river near the village of Kvakhvreli in Gori municipality on October 8.

Thomas' cousin Olivia Barrett told the Irish Sun : "My family would love for people to know how talented beautiful Tom was.
