by building the staircase, the money-saving parent estimates he saved around £4,000.

Speaking to money-saving community LatestDeals.co.uk about the project, he said : "I saw online that a lot of people were doing the normal glass balustrade and I wanted something a bit different.

"I was looking at the staircase and I realised that the stringer of the stairs neatly lined up with the wall above.

"I thought that I could get a full sheet of glass in there and be able to bolt it on and hide it in the top.

"then i looked on pinterest and found a photo of it so i decided to go with it.

After making the template, he then took it to a local glass factory to get this part of his design all made up.

It took around a week to make and needed around three people to lift it.

Ash said : "I bolted [ the glass ] up and got it level.

Then I decided to run some LEDs around the three sides of the glass that are hidden inside.
